What is CBC?

CBC is a student association. Like so many other Chalmers student associations it is populated by cheerful students in overalls. The big difference is that we fly hot air balloons, we fly a lot, and we fly everywhere and over everything. The club was formed in 1976 by some true enthusiasts and has thereafter grown to one of the country’s biggest balloon clubs. We have many members and (when the weather allows) many balloons in the air. A lot of pilots have been educated through CBC over the years, and we educate more all the time, because older pilots have a tendency to graduate and disappear from Chalmers. Our activities are financed with the aid of sponsors and tethering. In connection with some events, we show off the balloons, sometimes on the ground, blown up and anchored, and sometimes with fly-overs. By doing this, we ”earn” money for the club, so we can do our not-too-cheap hobby without bankrupting ourselves.

Does this sound exciting? We think so, too! Learn more about becoming a member.
